Spanair sales process abandoned - SAS Group to keep Spanair
As communicated in the SAS Group Strategy plan, Strategy 2011, SAS has been in a process of divesting Spanair. The target for the SAS Group has been to finalize this process before the end of second Quarter 2008.
Due to the challenging market conditions in the Spanish aviation market coupled with record oil prices and pressure in the financial sector SAS has not been able to reach its targeted terms and conditions on the divestment

SAS takes over GO
As the majority owner, SAS has bought out the other shareholders in the travel experience company GO. The company will be merged with the vacation and leisure unit at SAS.
"Dynamic packaging is an absolute necessity in the leisure market and we are pleased to be able to offer customers our products that are developed by GO," says Robin Kamark, SVP, Airline Commercial at SAS.

Direct routes to the Alps
SAS is launching two attractive direct routes for ski enthusiasts. Next winter, it will be possible to fly direct from Oslo to Innsbruck and Salzburg.
The direct route to Salzburg will depart every Wednesday and Saturday from December 3 through March 28. The route to Innsbruck will depart on Tuesdays and Fridays during the period December 26 through March 27.

SAS receives compensation and order new aircraft for fleet replacement
The details of the agreement are confidential but SAS Group confirms the total financial compensation is slightly more than SEK 1 billion in the form of a cash payment and credits for future firm and optional aircraft orders. As part of the agreement, the Board of Directors of SAS AB has approved an order for 27 aircraft, with an option for a further 24 aircraft.
The new aircraft to be delivered by Bombardier will be jet aircraft of the type CRJ900 NextGen and turboprop aircraft of the type Q400 NextGen and they will replace the earlier operated Q400-fleet and other aircraft within the SAS Group. |
