19DEC The 1st installation and certification of VDL-2 with AOA, ATN and LINK2000 CPDLC was achieved on SAS' B737-600 LN-RRZ on Thursday 18DEC2003 after a 100% successful test flight. SAS will upgrade the B737, MD80 and MD90 fleets to VDL-2 AOA. Twenty B737s will additionally get ATN capability for operational use of CPDLC in the Eurocontrol LINK 2000 program

The Ground Stations page has been updated. A new ACARS ground station have been deployed by ARINC at Innsbruck, Austria (INN/LOWI).
13NOV The aircraft avionics specs for the Collins fleet has been updated with information on the VDL-2 AOA and ATN equipment due for installation shortly.
A new B737-800, SE-DYT Jarlbanke Viking is due for delivery from Boeing late December. The SAS Aircraft Fleet page has been updated.
27OCT Installation of AOC version C4A has started.
A Preliminary Load Information message was implemented 17SEP03. It replaces the Preliminary Loadsheet/Notoc.
15OCT Arinc has deployed a new ground station at Milano-Malpensa airport, Italy (MXP). This is the first ARINC ground station deployment in Italy. The Ground Stations page has been updated.
13OCT Updated the Ground Stations page. New ACARS ground stations have been deployed by SITA at Antalya, Turkey (AYT), Alicante, Spain (ALC), Arrecife, Spain (ACE) and Fuerteventure, Spain (FUE).
29SEP Reworded the introduction on the Ground Stations page to clarify that the list now contains both airports which have current ACARS coverage as well as airports that do not. The Service Provider column indicates which service providers (if any) are available.
Air Botnia is to receive four new ACARS-equipped aircraft starting Oct-03: Two Avro RJ100s and two Avro RJ85s. This increases Air Botnia's Avro fleet to 9. See SAS Aircraft Fleet. Furthermore, it has just been announced that Air Botnia will change name to "Blue 1" from 01JAN2004.
26SEP Departure Clearance has become operational att Stuttgart airport, Germany (STR/EDDS).
19SEP Arinc has activated a new ground station at Stockholm-Bromma airport, Sweden (BMA). The Ground Stations page has also been updated with regards to current or potential holiday destinations.
08SEP Updated the AOC version history page and added a description of AOC version C4A due for installation shortly.
22AUG Introduced new pages that will provide an overview ov AOC version history and a brief change description of AOC releases. This section will be expaned with more information later.
14AUG HERMES 6 production and performance over summer has been satisfactory.
AOC version C3H is being installed in the MD-80/90 and B767 fleets. The B737 fleet was updated earlier.
04JUL The Eurocontrol Link2000+ program is making progress. SAS is working towards achieving the first B737 installation with VDL-2/AOA and CPDLC/ATN capability during Q4-2003.
The Ground Stations page has been updated.
The SAS Aircraft Fleet page has been updated. The Airbus fleet is in progress of receiving new AOC software and an ATSU upgrade (A321 only).
27JUN The Acars Initialization function has been modified. Latest flightplan information about Alternate(s) and Endurance is now included in the Init uplink data. The pilot may modify this as required. The information is then included in the Out report for retrieval on ground.
The Acronyms has been updated.
24JUN The SAS ACARS fleet was successfully migrated to the Hermes 6 ground datalink system at midnight 23JUN. A major milestone in our datalink program.

Acars Takeoff Data Calculation (TODC) for the Q400 fleet is due to be operational 01JUL.
26MAY Acars Takeoff Data Calculation (TODC) for the MD-90 fleet became operational on 19MAY.
The DCL page has been updated: DCL for Stockholm-Arlanda is not operational yet.
The Hermes 6 ground datalink system became operational for the Air Botnia fleet on 21MAY.
06MAY Arinc has activated a new ground station in Billund, Denmark (BLL).
08APR Arinc has activated a new ground station in Budapest, Hungary (BUD).
03APR The ACARS Ground Stations page has been updated. The list has been expanded with some current or potential destinations in the Mediterranean and Middle East area.
SIGMET step 2 is in production.
11MAR Updated the A330 page. A new ATSU Core sw version CLR3.6 and new ATSU common AOC sw and AOC DB are being installed.
10MAR Acars Landing Data Calculation (LDC) for the B737 fleet is now operational.
The Q400 fleet is being updated with AOC cd H1-511.
27FEB Acars Takeoff Data Calculation (TODC) for the Airbus A330 fleet is now operational.
Added new pages for LDC, Aircraft Schedule and Flight progress information.
25FEB Acars Landing Data Calculation (LDC) for the B737 fleet has been developed and is being tested. Acars TODC for the MD90 SAS Aircraft Fleet has been developed and is also being tested.
12FEB SAS' 3rd Airbus A330-300 SE-REE Sigrid Viking is due for delivery 20 Feb 2003. See SAS Aircraft Fleet.
SAS has started to update the Collins fleet with AOC C3H.
Air Botnia has started to update the RJ85 fleet with AOC db -506. 
The FANS ADS-WPR and CPDLC pages have been updated with pictures of the MCDU and DCDU cockpit displays.
30JAN The ACARS Ground Stations page has been updated with information about the Scandinavian Light destinations for 2003. The Index page has been updated.
24JAN Two new pages have been added providing some background information regarding FANS ADS-WPR and CPDLC. See News item 22JAN. 
22JAN SAS begins operational use of FANS-A CPDLC (controller-pilot data link communications) for air traffic control communications on North Atlantic routes with Airbus A340s and A330s. This is in addition to FANS-A ADS (automatic dependent surveillance) position reporting which started in 2002.
The FANS-A CPDLC and ADS datalink applications replace traditional HF voice communications. They are matched with corresponding CPDLC and ADS ground work stations at the participating air traffic control centers. The FANS messages are transmitted via current ACARS VHF and SATCOM datalinks.
20JAN SAS joins the Eurocontrol Link2000+ program. SAS aircraft with Collins datalink equipment will be upgraded to VDL Mode 2 datalink and CPDLC (controller-pilot data link communications) for ATS (Air Traffic Services) communications in Europe. The Link2000+ CPDLC applications are designed to increase capacity and enhance safety in European airspace. The aircraft installations are expected to start in the 2nd half of 2003. Initial use will be in the Maastricht sectors.
VDL Mode 2 is a next-generation higher-speed VHF datalink designed to complement and eventually replace ACARS for AOC and ATS communications.
13JAN The Air Botnia Avro RJ85 fleet has been updated with AOC H2-505.
