18DEC Updated the ARINC VHF ground station coverage map for Europe.
12DEC Arinc has deployed a ground station (RGS) in Moscow (SVO) in Russia.
11DEC Arinc has deployed a ground station (RGS) in St. Petersburg (LED) in Russia.
A new B737-800 SE-DYH Hottur Viking is due for delivery from Boeing later this month. Brings the SAS Aircraft Fleet to 129 airplanes.
07DEC Added datalink Figures for Nov-00.
21NOV A new B737-800, reg LN-RPN Bergfora Viking has been added to the SAS Aircraft Fleet. She is due for delivery from Boeing later this month, will be operated in Euro cabin configuration and brings the ACARS fleet to 128 airplanes.
13NOV Added a new page that describes the ACARS Flight Plan application
Trials with Departure Clearance in CPH are expected to in Dec-00.
Added datalink Figures for Oct-00.
10NOV A new B737-800, reg LN-RPM Frigg Viking has been added to the SAS Aircraft Fleet. Arrived at ARN this morning from Seattle (BFI). Fuel stop at KEF. She is the first 737-800 in a European 2-class cabin configuration.
23OCT A new B737-800 delivery, reg LN-RPL, entered traffic recently. She is the 10th 737-800 for the Swedish Domestic operation, the 46th B737 in the fleet and the 126th SAS airplane with ACARS. See SAS Aircraft Fleet.

06OCT Sita has deployed a ground station at Longyearbyen (LYR) on Svalbard (Spitzbergen). At latitute 7840N, Longyearbyen is the most northerly airport served by SAS. See RGS list.
04OCT MD-80 LN-RMM is now operational with ACARS.
Two new B737-800s have entered traffic: LN-RPP and LN-RPR. Both are quipped with -758 CMU-900 datalink units.
The following re-registrations are planned during Oct-00:
B737 LN-RCP (ex SE-DTM)
B737 LN-RCR (ex SE-DTX)
B737 LN-RCS (ex SE-DTY)
Total ACARS SAS Aircraft Fleet is 125 aircraft.
02OCT Arinc recently deployed ACARS ground stations in Nice (NCE), Lyon (LYS) and Toulouse (TLS). See RGS list.
14SEP Updated the SAS Aircraft Fleet page due to the following re-registrations:
B737 LN-RPS (ex OY-KKC)

02AUG Added datalink Figures for June 00.
Added MAN (Manchester, UK) and CDG (Paris-Charles de Gaulle, France) as PAH-stations that support ACARS Loadsheet.
28JUL SAS' new-generation B737 No. 41 (a -683) SE-DTZ landed at Stockholm Arlanda airport after a non-stop delivery flight from Boeing Field, Seattle, USA. Airborne time 9h 7min. SE-DTZ is the first airplane in SAS equipped with an -758 CMU-900 datalink unit.
25JUL Arinc has added 3 ACARS remote ground stations (RGSs) in Greenland: SFJ (Söndre Strömfjord), UAK (Narsarsuak) and KUS (Kulusuk).
30JUN Added three B737s due for delivery in August: SE-DTZ (-683), SE-DYA (-883) and SE-DTN (-883). They bring the ACARS fleet to 122 airplanes. See SAS Aircraft Fleet.
Also added the datalink Figures for May.
And a correction: MD-82 OY-KHT did not get ACARS installed as planned (See News 16JUN). Now expected SEP00.
27JUN Eight MD-80s remain to be equipped with ACARS connection with the Config 2000 cabin redesign. The installation plan (May00) looks as follows:

LN-RLG: week 34, 2000
LN-ROM: week 39, 2000
SE-DIR: week 41, 2000
OY-KHM: week 42, 2000
SE-DMA: February, 2001

20JUN Added MD-82 OY-KHT. She is the 58th MD-80 with ACARS.
16JUN Added B737-883 SE-DTY to the SAS Aircraft Fleet. She is due for delivery from Boeing 20JUN. Also added MD-82 OY-KHE. She is the 57th MD-80 with ACARS.
22MAY Added B737-883 SE-DTX to the SAS Aircraft Fleet. She is due for delivery from Boeing 07JUN.
18MAY An Arinc remote ground station (RGS) is now operational at Tampere (TMP), Finland. TMP is also a SAS PAH Station supporting ACARS Loadsheet. The Load Confirm page has been updated.
Added B737-883 SE-DTX to the ACARS fleet. She is in the production flight test phase at Boeing, due for delivery 06JUN.
12MAY Added two new B737-800s to the ACARS Fleet: SE-DTL (delivered 10MAY) and SE-DTM (due 15MAY). They bring the 737-fleet to 38 airplanes and the total datalink fleet to 115 airplanes.

02MAY Operational ACARS Loadsheet and Notoc procedures expanded to include all international departures from from approximately 60 SAS PAH stations.
28APR Added a new page that describes Loadsheet Confirm procedures. Updated the Loadsheet page. Updated the RGS page and added a new page specifically for the PAH Stations that support ACARS Loadsheet.
28APR Added SAS' first B737-800 SE-DTK to the ACARS Fleet, due to be delivered 05MAY2000. She is the 36th new-generation B737 delivered to SAS and the 113th ACARS-airplane in the fleet.
23MAR Added MD-82 SE-DIN to the ACARS Fleet.
10MAR Added MD-81 SE-DMB to the ACARS Fleet. She is the 55th MD-80 and the 111th ACARS airplane.
08MAR Updated the VHF coverage map on the RGS page. Datalink Figures for January and February 2000 have been added.
23FEB Added MD-82 LN-RML to the ACARS Fleet. Also updated the Fleet Plans page.
16FEB Added MD-81 LN-RMR to the ACARS Fleet. She is the 53rd MD-80, bringing the total fleet to 109.
11FEB Added two new B737-783s LN-RPJ (due for delivery 14FEB) and LN-RPK (03MAR), both currently undergoing production test flights at Boeing.
Added a new page with some details about the ACARS Avionics onboard an airplane. Also updated the MCDU page.
09FEB MD-81 OY-KHN has been added to the ACARS Fleet. She is the 52nd MD-80 and the 106th SAS airplane with ACARS.
07FEB MD-81s LN-RMT and LN-RMO have been added to the ACARS Fleet. They are the 50th and 51st MD-80s with ACARS. B767 SE-DKZ is no longer with SAS, leaving 13 B767-383ER airplanes in the fleet.
28JAN Updated the ATIS page.
26JAN MD-82 SE-DIZ has been added to the ACARS fleet. She is the 104th aircraft with ACARS.
25JAN A nice article and photos from the Y2K validation flight 01JAN2000 (see also News item below) is reproduced here. It is in Danish.
Updated the pages on ATIS, Irregularity Info and Fleet Plans.
18JAN B737-783 OY-KKR has been added to the ACARS Fleet. KKR is currently undergoing production flight tests at Boeing and is due for delivery in early February. Long-range MD-83 SE-DPI is also about to be upgraded with ACARS, bringing the total fleet to 103 airplanes.
17JAN MD-87 OY-KHW is added to the SAS ACARS fleet, now totalling 101 airplanes. And the datalink Figures for Dec 99 are now available.
13JAN MD-82 SE-DIX is the latest addition to the SAS ACARS fleet, now totalling 100 airplanes. Reason for celebration! Also updated the Fleet Plans page.
10JAN The SAS Datalink team salutes B767 Captain and Technical Pilot Per-Olov Bröms who today completed his final flight before retirement. SK902 Newark-Copenhagen operated by B767-383ER LN-RCM landed ahead of schedule after a 6 hr 58 min flight. Captain Bröms has contributed to the SAS Datalink Program since 1992.
The airplane, at the time registered SE-DOC, incidentally was also the first airplane in SAS to be equipped with ACARS datalink and Satcom. See Milestones.
02JAN MD-87 SE-DIB has been added to the ACARS Fleet. Other additions are B737-683 SE-DTH (arrived 22DEC99) as well as the B737-783s OY-KKI and SE-DTI, both due for delivery in January.

SAS' datalink system Y2K operation was successfully validated in connection with a test flight flown by MD-87 LN-RMA ARN-CPH-OSL-ARN in the very early hours of 01JAN2000.
