17DEC MD-82 SE-DIL has been added to the SAS Aircraft Fleet, currently totalling 95 airplanes. And the datalink Figures for Nov 99 are now available.
13DEC New ATIS sites added recently: Hannover (Germany), Munich (Germany) and Halifax (Canada). All via ARINC.
08DEC A new application called Irregularity Information has been moved to production. It provides the flight crew with updates regarding traffic irregularities that affect the specific flight, or the departure/arrival station in general.
08DEC During the early hours of the morning the SAS Hermes ground datalink system was successfully upgraded with new, powerful servers. The impact on datalink operations was minimal.
06DEC Turku (TKU) airport, Finland, is now on-line with a new RGS.
02DEC The Scandinavian CAAs have made good progress during 1999 to provide ATIS via ACARS as an alternative to traditional ATIS voice broadcast. This is believed to be the current status:
Copenhagen: Operational ATIS available via SITA. ATIS trial via ARINC expected to be available during Dec 99.
Oslo: ATIS trial available via ARINC.
Stockholm: ATIS trial available via ARINC and SITA.

30NOV MD-81 SE-DII added to the SAS Aircraft Fleet.
Several MD-80 and B737 airplanes are to change registrations during Dec 1999. Old and new regs will be displayed on the SAS Aircraft Fleet page.
22NOV MD-82 LN-RMJ added to the SAS Aircraft Fleet.
19NOV Sandefjord/Torp airport (TRF) in Norway is on line with an RGS.
MD-83 LN-RMF and MD-87 OY-KHI have been equipped, bringing the total SAS Aircraft Fleet to 92 airplanes. Datalink Figures for October are now published. Enjoy!
18NOV Starting 16NOV the ACARS Loadsheet and Notoc program has been expanded to include all B737 and MD-90 international departures from ARN. B767 departures from ARN and EWR are included as before.
17NOV New RGSs have recently come on-line on the ARINC network: Kirkenes, Norway (KKN), Vaasa, Finland (VAA), Cologne, Germany (CGN), Hamburg, Germany (HAM), Berlin-Schonefeld, Germany (SXF).
05NOV Added LN-RMU and OY-KHK - two MD-80s - to the  growing SAS Aircraft Fleet, now totalling 90 aircraft.
04NOV Added a new page for the Crew List message.
04NOV SAS' first B737-783 SE-DTG landed at Stockholm-Arlanda airport today after a non-stop delivery flight from Boeing Field, Seattle. Airborne time 8 hrs 52 min.
Added MD-80 SE-DIK to the SAS Aircraft Fleet. Also MD-80 SE-DIC has been activated.
20OCT Added MD-82 SE-DFR to the SAS Aircraft Fleet. Added 2 new pages describing the user interfaces available to ground staff that need to use datalink: The DT-Application on a VDU and the Hermes Messenger (PC-based).
19OCT Since Monday 11 Oct the operational Loadsheet and Notoc documents are delivered via ACARS to all departing B767 flights out of ARN and EWR. The traditional hand-carried paper Loadsheet/Notoc is used as backup only. The ACARS Loadsheet/Notoc is electronically signed by the Commander.
18OCT Added 2 B737s due for delivery soon: SE-DTG (no 28) and OY-KKP (no 29). 'DTG is the first -700 model for SAS.
14OCT Added a new page on RGS locations vs SAS destinations.
05OCT Updated the Figures page with datalink figures from September.

29SEP Added pages for Oceanic Clearance and Transfer Info. Updated the page on future developments within datalink.
27SEP Added a page with some details on the ACARS Printer onboard the aircraft.
24SEP SAS is one of four airlines participating in a European Weather Reporting Study starting this week. The ACMS system onboard B767 and B737 aircraft register MET Data observations during flight and send them over ACARS to a meteorological database. Atmospheric weather observations from scheduled flights provide more data and are more cost-effective than traditional weather balloon probes.

22SEP MD-81 OY-KGY activated. Added a page with some words on the future developments of datalink. Updated the Acronyms page.
21SEP SAS datalink Y2K testing has been completed with Arinc and Sita for all aircraft types. No significant problems were discovered. As far as the testing can prove, the datalink system will continue to operate in the next millenium.
20SEP Added a page with a (very) brief description of the MCDU, the pilot's user interface for datalink. Added pages on the NOTOC and Irregularity Info applications. Added an Index for the growing number of Datalink pages on this site.
15SEP Updated the Datalink Introduction page. Added a page on Milestones in the program. Updated the Equipped a/c page with a Fleet Summary table and added a page on Fleet Plans.
13SEP Updated the From Departure to Arrival page and the Acronyms page.
Updated the Equipped a/c page: MD-81 OY-KHL is now equipped with ACARS. The total SAS Aircraft Fleet is 82 aircraft.
10SEP Added a new page called From Departure to Arrival. It is an account of how a typical flight is supported by datalink, from start to finish. The Datalink Introduction page has also been updated.
09SEP Updated the Applications page with links to new pages that contain information about ETA Update, Freetext Telex, MEL Advisory  and Inrange Report. Also updated many of the existing pages, including ACMS, Snag Report and Loadsheet.
03SEP Updated the Figures page with datalink figures for August.

30AUG Equipped a/c updated. MD-81OY-KGZ as well as B737-600s SE-DTF and LN-RPH added to the SAS Aircraft Fleet.
The total SAS Aircraft Fleet is now 79 airplanes.
SAS' aircraft fleet processes more than 5000 ACARS messages per day. The uplink/downlink ratio is about 1:4.
24AUG On August 23 a logistically challenging live end-to-end Y2K-test (year 2000) was performed with a SAS B767-300ER at Chicago O'Hare airport. The airplane logged-on to a special Y2K ARINC VHF ground station. ACARS movement reports, ACMS and TODC applications were tested against SAS ground computer systems. No problems were experienced.
23AUG Equipped a/c updated. MD-81OY-KHG added to the SAS Aircraft Fleet.
The total SAS Aircraft Fleet is now 76 airplanes.
16AUG The Figures page updated with datalink figures for July.
16AUG Equipped a/c updated. MD-80s LN-RLR and LN-RMG added to the fleet. Also the system has been activated on MD-80s LN-RMD, OY-KHU, SE-DFS, SE-DMD. These aircraft had been operating for some time with the system deactivated.
The total SAS Aircraft Fleet is now 75 airplanes, consisting of 14 B767s, 24 B737s, 8 MD-90s, 29 MD-80s.
21JUL Equipped a/c updated with 6 new airplanes. B737-600s LN-RPE, LN-RPF, SE-DNY and SE-DNZ added. MD-87s LN-RMK and SE-DIH added. The total SAS Aircraft Fleet is now 73 airplanes
08JUL The Figures page updated with datalink figures for June.
01JUL Equipped a/c updated. MD-80 LN-RMA activated.
The MD-80 SAS Aircraft Fleet now totals 25 aircraft. The system is activated on 20 of these.
30JUN Added a new datalink page called Figures with some fascinating month-by-month statistics.
28JUN Equipped a/c updated. MD-80s LN-RMS and OY-KHC added. MD-80s OY-KGT and SE-DFY activated.
Total fleet now 67 airplanes.
26JUN Another ACARS addition, a B737-600 OY-KKF, arrived at Stockholm-Arlanda after a nonstop delivery flight from Seattle-Boeing Field. Airborne time 8 hrs 58 minutes. Most of the flight operated at FL410.
The B737, together with the B767, is the leading user of datalink in SAS, partly as a result of the successful Takeoff Data application.
18JUN Equipped a/c updated. MD-82 LN-RLF added and ACARS on MD-82 LN-RLE has been activated. Total fleet is now 65 airplanes.
The B737-600 is the largest fleet using ACARS (18 airplanes in service so far).
22 MD-80 series airplanes have had ACARS installed. The system is currently activated on 14 of these.
15JUN Equipped a/c updated. MD-82 SE-DID added. B737-600 OY-KKF added. Total fleet now 64 airplanes.
04JUN Equipped a/c updated. MD-81 SE-DME added. B737-600 OY-KKE added. Total fleet now 62 airplanes.
31MAY Equipped a/c updated. MD-82 SE-DIA added. Total fleet now 60 airplanes.
Cleaned up text and corrected some typos on datalink main page and what is datalink. Applications updated.
28MAY Equipped a/c updated. MD-81 SE-DIS added. Total fleet now 59 airplanes.
26MAY Equipped a/c updated. MD-87 LN-RMP added. Total fleet now 58 airplanes.
In April the total datalink traffic for the first time exceeded 100.000 datalink messages. The average number of messages is 15 on a short-haul flight, 50 on an intercontinental flight.
21MAY Equipped a/c updated. MD-87 LN-RMH added. Total fleet now 57 airplanes.
